A rainy day.

We both slept incredibly well -- perhaps it was because of the rainy evening into morning and accompanying lack of sunshine.

Anyway, we had breakfast and dawdled in our room, hoping that the rain would cease. No such luck. So rain gear in tow, off we went to the Swedish History Museum.

On the way we saw some awesome art in the tunnelbana (Swedish subway).

We took an English tour of the Viking section with a guy working on a degree in archaeology - he was quite interesting. Then we took a lunch break.

Here is Bob reading his Kindle at lunch and claiming that he's not squinting.
And here he is on a Viking-style bench.
This was what most of the day looked like.
Bob has his second wind and is enjoying the kiddie area of the museum.
The museum was interactive and multi-media.
This was similar to a robe found as a Swedish artifact.
This crown was considered "loot" (as described in the museum) from the 30 years war.
The spooky stairway from the gold room to the main floor.
And Bob is everywhere!!
After leaving the museum, we stopped at the Diplomat Hotel. I suggested coffee, but we ended up getting pear cider and Malbec...
We took a tram to the shopping area near our hotel. As we were walking down our street, we noticed an interesting restaurant, so in we went. We ordered wine, appetizers, and entrees.
My appetizer: another take on roe, this time with a potato pancake.
Bob again had traditional herring -- both were excellent.
He also had rainbow trout with fresh summer vegetables.
I had classic Swedish meatballs -- again, these were delicious. We also watched an adorable Russian 4(?) year old and his father(?) at the next table -- a lovely ending to a rainy day.
